Union County: Museum plans a clay story tile workshop
The Union County Heritage Museum in New Albany plans a clay story tile workshop for Sept. 28 at 4:30 p.m.. Union County News reports that the two-session class is open to ages 11 and older, costs $65 and includes materials. The second meeting will be used to glaze the tiles.
Prentiss County: Northeast volleyball player earns conference honor
Northeast Mississippi Community College volleyball player Eliza Whitenton has been named the MACCC Offensive Player of the Week, Prentiss County News reports, citing the school. Whitenton set a program single-match record with 25 kills in Northeast's conference-opening win over Itawamba Community College.
Alcorn County: Corinth advances property cleanup
The Corinth Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to move cleanup forward at the vacant former Lusk Funeral Home on Martin Luther King Drive, overgrown railroad property near Young and Wick streets, and a Tate Street lot. Alcorn County News reports that the old funeral home is slated for demolition. The votes allow the city's code enforcement work to proceed.
Tippah County: Ripley and Falkner win volleyball matches
Ripley swept Senatobia 3-0 Monday and remained unbeaten in district play. Falkner beat Biggersville 3-1 for its third consecutive win. Tippah News' Tuesday sports roundup puts Ripley at 5-0 in Class 4A Region 3 and Falkner at 5-2 in Class 1A Region 1.
